...so I decided to post a piece I did at the end of the Fall. It's one of the first I've ever employed colour with and I'm STILL not sure how I feel about it. What do you think of it? Any helpful suggestions?
Wow!! This is phenomenal! A bit like henna'd hands in some Eastern cultures, but wonderfully colorful. The fact that there are no joints or wrinkles adds something.....don't really know exactly what. You've added dimension so nicely using the tangles and a bit of shading. Perfect!! I do like to add color, and have found that just a touch suits me best.
I've seen a lot of hand zentangles, but your is unique. I like the addition of color, but what makes yours outstanding is the shading, where it looks like a 3d hand. Your choice of tangle and your application of them really adds to the perspective of this piece. Well done!
This hand rocks – definitely it does! I saw it and thought 'WOW' this is a beautiful hand wearing a precious lace glove. The colours are vibrant yet not ‘loud‘ at all. The shading is stunning… One question: Is it your hand you circled around?
Thank you, everyone, for your kind comments. It helps to puzzle out how others view your work, particularly when you're unsure how successfully you've managed a new concept. And yes, it is my hand. Unfortunately my journal is small than my hand, so I photocopied my right (dominant, although I am functionally ambidextrous) hand, reduced in size, pasted it to cardstock and cut it out as a shape template. I made it in two sizes to fit the two most common journal sizes I use. I like using hands frequently and I enjoy using my own. It seems a more personal piece of work this way, plus I have several haemangiomas in my fingers that affect their appearance and I like how it makes my hand outline unique. Hey, if you gotta live with it anyways, you may as well find a way to embrace it! *G*
Just fantastic! You gave me an excellent idea to photo copy my families hands and Tangle each one. I'll see if my boys will do their own Tangle, but I'm sure I'll end up doing it. Maybe they can pick the designs that they like and I'll do those.
I like it - some times you just need a little color
ReplyDeleteChristina you have a great knack for fancy hand work! Some times it's fun to do colour and it's worked here.
